The Episcopal Identity

Good Shepherd is a school for every family. Our Episcopal identity is the foundation of how we treat one another — not a requirement for who may join us.

What Episcopal Means at GSES

Good Shepherd Episcopal School draws its identity from the Episcopal tradition — a tradition built on inclusivity, reason, and love. We are a school where children of all religious backgrounds, cultures, and family structures are not just welcomed but celebrated.

Being an Episcopal school does not mean religious instruction or doctrinal requirements. It means our community is shaped by a set of enduring values: that every child deserves to be seen as an individual, that diverse perspectives make us stronger, and that how we treat each other matters as much as what we learn.

Families of all faiths — and of no particular faith — have made Good Shepherd their home for over 30 years. That diversity is part of what makes us who we are.

Our Values

Comprehensive and Inclusive

Good Shepherd opens its doors to families of every religious, cultural, and economic background. Our community reflects the full richness of the world our students will grow up in.

Tradition Over Doctrine

The unity of our school community is grounded in shared rites and traditions — not in theological requirements. Students and families of all beliefs participate fully in everything Good Shepherd has to offer.

Reason as a Path to Understanding

The Episcopal tradition values intellectual inquiry and critical thinking. We encourage our students to ask questions, explore ideas, and arrive at their own understanding of the world around them.

Rooted in Love

At its heart, an Episcopal school is founded on love — love of learning, love of community, and a genuine care for every child who walks through our doors.

A Concern for the World

We cultivate in our students a sense of responsibility that extends beyond the classroom. Kindness, service, and respect for others are woven into life at Good Shepherd.

Chapel Life

Every week, students gather for chapel — a moment to step away from the academic day and come together as a community. Chapel at Good Shepherd is inclusive by design. It is a time for reflection, shared stories, and the kind of quiet belonging that comes from being part of something larger than yourself.

Students of all backgrounds participate. No specific beliefs are required — only an open heart and a willingness to be present with one another.

Our Relationship with The Church of the Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd Episcopal School shares its campus with The Church of the Good Shepherd, located in an adjacent building on the same grounds in Tequesta. This close relationship reflects the church's long-standing commitment to education and its belief in the value of nurturing young people and their families.

The church and the school operate independently, but the proximity reinforces something meaningful: that our community is rooted in a place, a tradition, and a genuine care for the families we serve.
